Greetings All,
OSCP Updates: Shipment of CARE packages for the 2007 holiday season was very successful. Shipmates of the 30th NCR and 22nd NCR expressed gratitude for all your generosity; Marines, many other troops and others benefited from your unselfish support of our troops. To all who participated - Oorah!
Based on the enthusiasm and success that this program had last year, we are looking forward to a very successful shipment to our troops this year. Many new troops have been rotated in and their needs and morale support should be addressed. As we discovered last year from older Bees, NewBees very much appreciate packages, letters, CD's and whatever you may do to support their deployment away from home.

Look in "Where to Send" and pick out a postee. All postees have agreed to distribute their packages to their Shipmates. Based on our past experience, the APO/FPO USPS $10.95 - 12" x 12" x 5.5" flat rate boxes are the best bet - ask your local postperson about specifics of shipment requirements. Some feedback from the troops verified that these are very handy sizewise and otherwise. Corpsmen and Chaplains seem to be in charge of many distributions, especially with Marine units and Seabee units.

What to send is up to you, Here is what I found was appreciated: Brown jersey gloves, hard candy, nuts, jerky, Cards w/pens, Day Minders, Magazines, DVD’s, AAA and AA batteries, baby wipes, chapstick, magazines, paperback books, flashlights etc. … Photos of the sender w/special message of encouragement ....Be creative....check some of the requests on anysailor , anymarine, or anysoldier—especially the special requests of our female troops.
If you are a Veteran, active troops have expressed special interest in messages/cards from you. Some units have approx. 20% female shipmates who have particular requests - please consider this when searching for a recipient.
The following is an excerpt from a letter written by Capt. Hans Probst - commander 30th NCR.
"To receive such great support from home is a tremendous morale booster. Your gifts provide tangible assurance that we are not forgotten by supportive Americans back home. Please convey my sincere appreciation to all the patriotic Americans in your organization whose remembrance of our Seabees was a true source of light this holiday season.
